A Little 'Bout Us

Owned by George Eldridge, The Tamale Factory is located on a beautiful 25 acre farm that has been in the Eldridge family since the 1800s.

George, a self-made business man, has been successful in a number of fields, especially the restaurant business. It was 1988 when he opened the now famous Doe’s Eat Place in Little Rock. At that time, George brought his tamales in from Greenville, Mississippi. To improve on a good thing, he later bought a Newport-based tamale factory in Arkansas. It was there that he was able to make and refine his world famous tamale recipe.

When the Newport establishment was sold, the Tamale Factory was shut down. George found himself faced with a challenge. Would he stop selling tamales or find a new place to purchase them... George decided he would start making his own tamales in the kitchen at his house on the farm.

It was a simple enough process and easy enough to do. He was, after all, already building a large barn and arena. He just decided to add a tamale making business on the side while he was at it.

It took a year to build and anticipation for the restaurant, located out along the pretty countryside, grew.
